Healthy Pumpkin Pie Protein Shake

November 14, 2016 Food, Holidays

Pumpkin bread, pumpkin soup, pumpkin pie….. pumpkin protein shake?!

I honestly begin to CRAVE the taste of pumpkin once Fall comes around! I love experimenting in the kitchen, and one of my favorite things to do to is come up with new recipes which incorporate……….drum roll please…………pumpkin!!

I truly have the largest sweet tooth ever, so come Fall time, I’m obviously overloading on all of the pumpkin goodies! I realized about halfway through this season though, that I may want to cut back on my sugar intake a little…giggle : )

One of my favorite ways to curb my sweet tooth without the sugar overload, is by making delicious protein shakes! I know, I know….how can a protein shake taste as good as all of the other delicious pumpkin desserts out there?! Just wait… I PROMISE if you try this recipe, your mind will be BLOWN!

I make protein shakes all the time for my children, and they LOVE them! They seriously think they are just the luckiest kids in the world because they have a mom who feeds them milkshakes for breakfast…. little do they know, they’re actually drinking something nutritious, filling, and low in sugar!

Try out my Healthy Pumpkin Pie Protein Shake recipe below…I really think you’ll love it!

Pumpkin Pie Protein Shake Ingredients

1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

1 scoop Quest vanilla protein powder (find it here)

1/2 cup pumpkin purée

1/4 cup cottage cheese*

1 Tbsp Stevia in the Raw (or sweetener of choice)

1/2-1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice

5-10 ice cubes

crushed cinnamon Teddy Grahams (optional)

whipped topping (light)

Directions

Put all ingredients (except the Teddy Grahams) in a blender, and blend to desired consistency. If using Teddy Grahams, fold them in at the end. Add whipped topping and sprinkle a little more cinnamon on top. Enjoy!!!

*cottage cheese makes it creamy and thick like a real milkshake, and I promise you won’t taste it! You may also substitute with greek yogurt.

Blender Note

I always tell everyone that it’s worth investing in a nice, high-powered blender! It’s definitely not fun to drink a grainy, icy smoothie or choking on an ice cube you didn’t know was still there! Giggle : ) I personally use this Vitamix, but I know people who use the Ninja and love it as well!
