The Witch of Turtle Creek Lane and Her LIVE Mice!

I have to admit, I am a bit over-the-top in about everything I do….but even for me, my costume this year was over-MY-top! Giggle : ) I had LIVE MICE running around my HEAD!

It was Pumpkin Day at my kids elementary school and I was asked to be the guest reader! I had planned to dress up as a witch, but before I got my costume on I remembered I needed to get mice for Sam’s snake’s Friday feeding….

I grabbed the mice that morning …… and then had this brilliant – beyond brilliant – idea! WHY DON’T I WEAR THEM?!

I made a flexible tube out of mesh netting, grabbed the three mice one by one by the tail, (I obviously screamed a few times as they tried to escape…you can’t even imagine) and dropped them into the tube! I then connected both ends to 1/2 a toilet paper roll and duct taped them together.

I literally walked around at Pumpkin Day feeling the scurrying of THREE MICE on the rim of my hat!! All of the kids went nuts!!! What I didn’t tell the kids though… was this was the mice’s last hurrah before meeting Sam’s snake….. #thecircleoflife

If you ask anyone who knows me well…this is my REAL LIFE!! And I absolutely LOVE it!! I love bringing joy to my family, and I never regret seizing the opportunities (however creepy they may be) to make them smile. It was so much fun being the “cool mom” that my kids wanted to show off to their friends! We even made Buzzfeed (check it out!)
