Have you ever tried a brownie INSIDE of a chocolate chip cookie?! The ultimate questions is – who invented the crownie? Well, I would like to set the official record straight that I INVENTED THESE!
Ok… so maybe it’s impossible to prove this…but I really think I did!!! I had the trademark back in 2014!!
Since Sports Illustrated officially announced I lost the trademark, and even though Tony Romo admits he did not create the Crownie, I have just decided to let EVERYONE in on my secret recipe!!
Personally, I think mine look a lot yummier … giggle 🙂
With eBay behind me, we’ve teamed up to share this fabulous recipe…!! I always make my cookies in a Kitchen-Aid and still use my original mixer from my wedding!! So, when my friend got engaged a few weeks ago, we decided to celebrate by buying her this fabulous Sea Glass colored one!!
I love shopping at eBay when I’m on the hunt for fun and unique pieces. They never let me down! They always have great affordable kitchen items!! I’ve included my favorites in this post below!!!
OK….. back to the original CROWNIES!!!!
DRUM ROLL…..
Turtle Creek Lane Crownies
Ingredients
2 sticks real butter (softened)
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 1/4 cup brown sugar
1 T vanilla (Costco brand is by far the best!)
2 large eggs (if using small eggs use 3)
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 bag milk chocolate chips
1 batch of brownies (I’ve tried scratch ones but the Ghiradelli Triple Chocolate are my favorite!)
Directions
Make up your favorite brownie recipe and bake! (A more fudgy type is best – I use Ghiradelli). Set aside and allow to cool
Beat butter, sugars, vanilla, and eggs on medium speed until lightened and fluffy…
Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt (dough will be stiff). Stir in chocolate chips
Use an ice cream scoop to make a ball of cookie dough. Flatten on your hand and place brownie in the center. Fold the cookie part around the brownie so the brownie is not visible. Roll ball in sugar (optional) and place on cookie sheet. Flatten slightly.
Everyone seems to want to help at this point because this is where we sneak bites of the dough!
Bake at 350 degrees for 9-11 minutes (I use convection on my oven). Do not over-bake! Center should be soft.
VARIATION: I’ve also made peanut butter cookies and filled them with a full-sized Reese peanut butter cup. Roll in sugar and bake. WOW!!
I’m a lover of all things blue, so I had to get some fun accessories to go with the Kitchen-Aid as well! See some of my favorite kitchen accessories below!
Also how fabulous is the design of this enamelware set?! It’s a sea glass swirl and I love that they offer a complete set for you! Ahhhh it’s just so beautiful!
Let me know if you try this recipe for yourself! I can’t wait to hear how you love it!
P.S. don’t forget to see all of my favorite baking finds + spring and summer favorites I have my eye on!
Happy Baking!!
Hugs… Jennifer
